Translation In Motion
“Translation in Motion” invites visitors to uncover the hidden layers of the translation process, exploring how words travel across languages and cultures.
Engage with excerpts of English translations at different stages of development, following their transformation from draft to polished work. Practicing translators will be present on select evenings to share their creative processes, discuss the challenges and joys of their craft and answer your questions about the choices they make to preserve meaning, nuance and voice.
When translators are unavailable, the activity remains open as a self-guided exploration, with explanatory notes guiding you through the subtle art of translation.
Established in 1968, Singapore Book Council Limited (SBC) is an independent charity with a mission to develop, support and advocate a multicultural literary arts sector. SBC cultivates Singapore’s literary arts scene by organising literary festivals like the Asian Festival of Children’s Content, developing the community’s literary capabilities through its training Academy programmes, and recognising excellence through conferring awards like the Singapore Literature Prize and the Hedwig Anuar Book Award.
