DO YOU SEE ME?
17 January–6 February 2025
2025 is a year that will be marked by many milestones, including Singapore’s 60th year of independence and the Gallery’s 10th anniversary. In the midst of this, we offer a moment for audiences, artists and establishments to pause, reflect, celebrate and be inspired for the future.
This year’s theme, “Do You See Me?”, offers nuanced and layered interpretations of diverse identities of people, space and place, which resonates with Singapore’s multifaceted and complex identity. It aims to evoke retrospection and introspection, encouraging collective contemplation about what conventional perceptions mean in the present day, and how they might continue to help us envision our futures. As we examine the intersections generated by the theme, we will uncover unexpected ways of seeing ourselves and others through the unique perspectives of our artists, interventions and programmes.
“Do You See Me?” is an invitation to see and be seen. It is a celebration of our diversity and an aspiration for a humane future.
Spearheaded by National Gallery Singapore with programme collaborators Asian Civilisations Museum, Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, Funan, The Arts House, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Victoria Theatre & Victoria Concert Hall, the district-wide visual arts festival looks to inspire audiences to forge deeper connections with art in new and engaging ways.
